Allegation and Misconduct

The Qaiwan Journal of Science (QJS) upholds the highest standards of integrity in scholarly publishing. Any allegations of misconduct are treated with the utmost seriousness to ensure the credibility of published work and the trust of the academic community. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, unethical research practices, duplicate submission, and authorship disputes.

  • Types of Misconduct
    1. Plagiarism: The unauthorized use or close imitation of another’s work without proper attribution. This includes copying text, data, or ideas from other sources without acknowledgment.
    2. Fabrication and Falsification: Creating or manipulating data or findings to misrepresent the results of a study.
    3. Duplicate Submission: Submitting the same or substantially similar work to multiple journals simultaneously.
    4. Authorship Disputes: Incorrect attribution of authorship, including the omission of contributors or the inclusion of individuals who did not significantly contribute to the research.
    5. Unethical Research Practices: Conducting studies that violate ethical standards, including improper handling of human or animal subjects or failing to obtain necessary permissions or approvals.
  • Handling Allegations
    1. Initial Assessment:
      • All allegations are reviewed by the editorial team.
      • If the claim is substantiated, the editor will initiate a thorough investigation.
    2. Investigation Process:
      • The editor may consult with the editorial board or external experts.
      • Authors will be contacted to provide a response and evidence to clarify the situation.
    3. Resolution and Actions:
      • Retraction or withdrawal of the manuscript.
      • Notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions.
      • A temporary or permanent ban on future submissions.
      • Publication of a statement outlining the misconduct.

  • Preventative Measures
    1. Plagiarism Detection: All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin to ensure originality.
    2. Ethics Training: Authors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with ethical guidelines in scholarly publishing, including the policies of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
    3. Transparent Policies: QJS provides clear guidance on authorship criteria, data integrity, and ethical research practices.
  • Reporting Misconduct
Anyone who suspects misconduct in a manuscript submitted to QJS or in a published article is encouraged to contact the editorial office: qj@kti.edu.iq with detailed information. All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated thoroughly.
